What is Relumina (relugolix)?
Relumina (relugolix) is a medicine for managing symptoms of uterine fibroids. These symptoms include too much bleeding, pain, and low back pain. It also helps with anaemia. Each tablet has 40 mg of relugolix.
How does Relumina (relugolix) work?
Uterine fibroids are non-cancerous growths in the uterus. They usually appear during a woman’s childbearing years.
It’s not clear what causes fibroids. But research suggests they come from abnormal muscle cells in the uterus. These cells grow quickly because of oestrogen.
Oestrogen is a hormone that helps the uterus prepare for pregnancy each month. It also makes fibroids grow. Relumina’s active ingredient, relugolix, blocks oestrogen production. This stops menstruation and reduces symptoms.
